Who reads comments this way
Comments show how an audience actually reacts, which is why people read them outside the app. Giveaway hosts check entries and replies before picking a winner. Marketers read the comments under a creator's videos to judge whether the audience is engaged and genuine. Researchers and journalists follow public reactions to news and trends. Creators see what viewers ask on videos in their niche. Posting a comment on TikTok takes an account, but reading public comments here does not, and there is nothing to install.
Why some comments don't appear
You can only read what TikTok shows publicly, and creators have several ways to shape that. They can limit comments to friends or followers, or turn comments off for a single post. Filters can hold back spam, offensive comments or comments with chosen keywords until the creator approves them, and some creators hold every comment for review. Creators and commenters can delete comments, and TikTok may remove comments that break its Community Guidelines. Hidden and removed comments can't be viewed here.
Checking giveaway entries
If your giveaway asks people to comment, read the replies as well as the top-level comments, because some entrants answer inside a thread. Comments caught by your own filters stay hidden until you approve them, so review filtered comments in the TikTok app before you start counting. Open each finalist's profile to make sure the account is real and matches the name in the comment, and choose the winner in a way you could explain to your audience.

Why can't I find a comment I saw before?
The person who wrote it or the creator may have deleted it, or TikTok may have removed it. Comments waiting in a creator's filters are not public either.
Can I read comments on private videos?
No. Only public videos from public accounts can be opened here. Posts shared only with friends, and videos from private accounts, stay private.
