In the Lil Durk federal trial closing, the government replayed ~56 seconds of a roughly 3-hour DJ Akademiks interview and told the jury it was an “incredible statement of responsibility,” arguing Lil Durk was essentially admitting involvement in the murder. The defense objected. The judge overruled it. So the jury didn’t hear the complete interview. Here's where evidence law gets strange: the government can generally use a defendant's own words against him, but a defendant usually can't just put in his own favorable statements, because on their own they can be hearsay.
