How to Download TikTok Videos on iPhone

To download TikTok videos on iPhone, open the video in the TikTok app, tap Share, then tap Save video. It goes straight to Photos. That option only shows up when the creator allows downloads, and TikTok says the copy may carry its watermark. For a copy without one, paste the video's link at tikghost.com in Safari, download the MP4, then save it to Photos from Files.

How to Download TikTok Videos on iPhone in the TikTok App

TikTok has its own save button, and when it's there, it's the quickest way to download TikTok videos on iPhone. The video lands in your Photos app, so you can watch it offline or send it to someone outside TikTok.

The copy isn't always clean, though. TikTok says videos saved this way may include the TikTok watermark and the creator's username, depending on the creator's settings.

  1. Open the video in the TikTok app.
  2. Tap the Share button on the side of the video, or press and hold on it.
  3. Tap Save video. A pop-up tells you once it's saved.

Why Can't I Save Some TikTok Videos?

If Save video is missing from the Share menu, the creator doesn't allow downloads. That's a switch in their privacy settings, and turning it off covers the videos they've already posted as well as new ones.

Some accounts can't allow downloads at all. If the account is private or belongs to someone under 16, the switch is off and TikTok won't let them turn it on.

Videos a creator marked as private can't be downloaded either.

If you saved a video and it isn't in Photos, TikTok suggests looking for a TikTok album there. Also make sure TikTok has access to your photos.

Open Settings, tap Privacy & Security, then Photos, and find TikTok in the list.

How to Download TikTok Without Watermark on iPhone

TikTok's own player streams videos without the watermark, and that's the file Tik Ghost's downloader saves for you. It runs in Safari, so there's no app to install and nothing to sign in to.

It works for videos from public accounts that are shared with everyone. If it's someone else's video, ask before you repost it, and give them credit.

  1. In TikTok, tap Share on the video and copy its link.
  2. In Safari, paste the link in the box above, or at tikghost.com. Extra text around the link is fine.
  3. The video opens on its own page, so you can check it's the right one.
  4. Tap Download MP4. Download HD shows up too when TikTok has a sharper version, and Download audio saves only the sound.
  5. Safari saves the file to your Downloads folder. Its name starts with the creator's username.

Where Do Downloaded Videos Go on iPhone?

Not to Photos. Safari puts what you download in the Downloads folder of the Files app.

Right after a download, you can also get there from Safari: tap the Downloads button next to the search field, then tap Downloads.

Where that folder lives depends on Safari's settings. In the Settings app, open Safari and tap Downloads.

Pick iCloud Drive and you can open your downloads on any iPhone, iPad or Mac signed in to your Apple Account. Pick On My iPhone and they stay on the phone.

To open the folder later:

  1. Open the Files app.
  2. Tap Browse.
  3. Tap Downloads. If you don't see it, look in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on that setting.

How to Move a TikTok Video From Files to Photos

The Files app and your photo library are separate, so a video sitting in Downloads won't show up in Photos until you save it there.

Once it's saved, it's in Photos. On iOS 18 and later, look under Recently Saved, where Apple collects photos and videos you save from other apps.

  1. In the Files app, go to your Downloads folder.
  2. Touch and hold the video, then tap Share.
  3. Tap Save Video.

MP4 or HD: Which Should You Pick on iPhone?

MP4 is TikTok's standard H.264 file, usually 720p. It plays on nearly anything, so it's the safe pick.

HD shows up when TikTok has a sharper version, up to 1080p. That file is usually H.265, which Apple calls HEVC.

It's the format your iPhone's camera records in when it's set to High Efficiency, and iPhones have played it since iOS 11. So an HD file is fine if it's staying on your phone.

Some older computers and video players can't open H.265, though. If that's where the video is going, take the MP4.

To Photos, if you saved them in the TikTok app. Safari downloads go to the Downloads folder in the Files app instead.
