TikTok Profile Views: Can Someone See That You Viewed Their Profile?
Updated Sep 28, 2026
Only if you both have profile view history turned on. Then your visit shows up on their Profile views list for 30 days. If your setting is off or you're logged out, it won't. TikTok profile views are off by default, and only people 16 or older with fewer than 5,000 followers can turn them on.
How Do TikTok Profile Views Work?
TikTok calls the feature profile view history. Turn it on and you get a list of accounts that visited your profile in the past 30 days.
It works both ways, though. Visitors only show up on your list if they have the setting on too.
And while yours is on, anyone you visit who also has it on can see your visit.
Not everyone can use it. You have to be 16 or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers, so younger teens and bigger accounts don't get the setting at all.
It's also off by default. Unless you've turned it on, your visits don't show up on anyone's Profile views list.
The switch is in your privacy settings, and you can also get to it from your inbox or your profile.
So your list is never the full picture. It shows people who have the setting on and leaves out everyone else.
TikTok doesn't mention any other way to see who visited. So if an app or site promises to show everyone who looked at your profile, it's claiming more than TikTok itself shows.
Can Someone See If You Viewed Their TikTok Profile?
It comes down to your setting and theirs. Here's how TikTok's Help Center lays it out:
- You both have profile view history on: yes. Your visit goes on their Profile views list and can stay there for up to 30 days.
- Your setting is off: no. TikTok says that with it off, others won't see that you've viewed their profile.
- Their setting is off: no. They can't see anyone's visits, yours included.
- They're under 16 or have 5,000 or more followers: no. The feature isn't available to them, so they have no list to check.
- You're not logged in: no. Their list shows accounts that have the setting on, and you're not using an account.
- Your visit was more than 30 days ago: no. The list stops at 30 days.
What Happens to Visits When the Setting Changes?
Switching it off is the clear part. If you turn yours off, TikTok says others won't see that you've viewed their profile.
If they turn theirs off, they can't see who visits them anymore.
Turning it on later is less clear. TikTok doesn't say whether visits you made with the setting off show up once you switch it on.
It also doesn't say whether someone who turns theirs on can see visits from before.
What it does say is that the list covers the past 30 days, so a visit older than that won't show either way.
And if they've already seen your visit, turning yours off afterward won't undo that.
Our guide to turning off profile views covers two quicker routes and what happens if you change the setting after a visit. From your settings, it goes like this:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile, then the Menu ☰ button at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Profile views.
- Switch Profile view history off.
How to See Who Viewed Your TikTok Profile
First, turn profile view history on, using the steps above but switching it on instead. Then you can open your list from two places.
TikTok's Help Center gives these steps for the app, not the website.
In your inbox, tap Activities, then the notification that someone viewed your profile, or Profile views. You might have to scroll down to find it.
On your profile there's a Profile views button at the top, which is the quicker way in:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Profile views button at the top.
- You'll see the accounts that viewed your profile in the past 30 days and have the setting on too. The Settings button at the top of this page takes you back to the switch.
Can You See Who Viewed Your TikTok Videos?
Sometimes. It depends on what they looked at, because TikTok keeps separate lists for your profile, your posts and your Stories, and each has its own rules:
- Profile views: accounts that visited your profile in the past 30 days and have profile view history on.
- Post views: followers who viewed a post from the last 7 days and have post view history on, plus anyone who liked or commented on it, whatever their own setting is.
- Story views: you can see how many views each of your Stories got and which accounts watched it. TikTok says people can see you viewed their Story even if your account is private or your profile view history is off.
Post view history is a separate setting, under Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Post views. It has the same age and follower limits as profile views.
It works both ways too. While yours is on, people you follow who have it on can see that you viewed their posts.
Does a Private Account Hide Your Visits?
TikTok never says it does. Its Help Center ties profile view history to the setting, your age and your follower count, and doesn't mention private accounts at all.
For Stories it's explicit: a private account doesn't stop people from seeing that you watched.
A private account changes what other people can see of you. Only people you approve can follow you and watch your videos.
But your name, username and profile photo are always visible to anyone, on TikTok or off it, and people can still search for your account.
Visiting a private account works the same way. TikTok doesn't describe different rules for it.
You'll see its name, username and photo, but not its videos unless the owner has approved you.
How to Look at a Profile Without Showing Up
The easiest way is the setting itself. With profile view history off, your visits don't show on anyone's list.
The trade-off is that you stop seeing who visits you.
You can also look while logged out, in a browser where you're not signed in to TikTok. A private or incognito window does that without logging you out of your own account.
Profile view history lists accounts, and you're not using one.
The catch is that TikTok lets you browse logged out for a while before it asks you to log in. It also still uses what you watch to decide what to show you.
Or use Tik Ghost, the lookup box above. It never uses your TikTok account, so there's no visit of yours to show.
It's free and works with public accounts. Private accounts and friends-only posts stay hidden, as they do on TikTok.
Pictures and most videos still load straight from TikTok's servers, though. If you're logged in to TikTok in the same browser, TikTok may be able to link what you watch to your account.
A private window avoids that.
Two things still give you away in the app, even with profile view history off. Watching someone's Story puts you on its viewer list.
And a like or a comment on a post counts as a post view for the creator, whatever your post view history setting is.
Questions
Can you see who viewed your TikTok?
Partly. With profile view history on, you can see accounts that viewed your profile in the past 30 days, if they have it on too.
Post view history shows some viewers of posts from the last 7 days, and you can see which accounts watched each of your Stories.
Can you see who viewed your TikTok profile?
Yes, if you're 16 or older, have fewer than 5,000 followers and turn on profile view history. You'll only see visitors from the past 30 days who have the setting on too.
Why can't I see who viewed my TikTok profile?
Because your list only shows visitors who have profile view history on too, and it's off by default. You also won't see anyone if your own setting is off, you're under 16, you have 5,000 or more followers, or the visits were more than 30 days ago.
Does TikTok notify someone when you view their profile?
It can, if you both have profile view history on. Your visit goes on their Profile views list, and their inbox can show a notification that someone viewed their profile.
With your setting off, TikTok says they won't see that you viewed it.
Can someone see that you viewed their profile if you're not logged in?
No. Profile view history only lists accounts that have the setting on, and when you're logged out you aren't using one.
The same goes for lookups on Tik Ghost, which never use your TikTok account.
