To hide your followers on TikTok, make your account private. Tap Profile, then the Menu ☰ button, then Settings and privacy, then Privacy, and turn on Private account. After that, only people you approve can see your followers and following lists. TikTok also has a separate setting for who can see your following list, but it doesn't hide your following count.

How to Hide Your Followers on TikTok

The only switch TikTok gives you for hiding your followers list is a private account. It hides your following list too.

With a private account, you approve who can follow you and who can see your videos, LIVE videos, bio, likes and both lists.

To go private:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top.
  3. Tap Settings and privacy, then Privacy.
  4. Turn on Private account.

TikTok doesn't describe a way to hide only your followers list while staying public.

If you're 13 to 17, your account may be private already. TikTok makes teen accounts private by default when they sign up.

What a Private Account Changes

Going private changes more than your lists. Others can't Duet or Stitch your videos, download your posts or add them to their Stories.

A few things stay public no matter what. Your name, username and profile photo are always visible to anyone, on or off TikTok, and people can still search for your account.

If it's only a few people you don't want around, you can remove them as followers instead:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap Followers.
  3. Tap the More actions button next to the person, then tap Remove this follower.

While you're in your privacy settings, you might also want to look at profile view history.

For the rest of what going private changes, including single posts and liked videos, see how to make your TikTok account private.

How to Hide Your Following List on TikTok

If you'd rather stay public, TikTok has a setting for who can see the accounts you follow. TikTok mentioned it in July 2025, when it let parents in Family Pairing see whether their teen's following list is visible to others.

TikTok's Help Center doesn't walk through that setting, though. Your privacy controls live under Settings and privacy, then Privacy, so that's the place to look.

Some of the biggest accounts use it. In October 2026, MrBeast, Charli D'Amelio, Bella Poarch and Addison Rae all had their following lists hidden, while Khaby Lame's was open.

Hiding the list leaves the number alone. All four of those accounts still showed how many accounts they follow.

How to Check That Your Lists Are Hidden

The TikTok app shows your own lists to you either way, so it can't tell you what a stranger sees. For that, look yourself up without logging in.

You can do that with our TikTok follower viewer. Lookups don't use any TikTok account, so you see your profile the way anyone else would.

  1. Type your @username into the lookup box on this page.
  2. Check the Followers and Following tabs.

If your account is private, you won't get that far. The page shows your name, photo and counts, then a note that the account is private.

If you hid your following list, the Following tab says This account keeps its following list private.

We keep profiles in a short-lived cache, so a change you just made can take up to half an hour to show up here.

Can Anyone Still See Your Hidden Following List?

Not on your profile, and not through us. When a list is hidden, TikTok marks it that way in the profile data it shares, and our Following tab shows a notice instead of names.

On a private account, only the people you approve can see your lists.

If an app promises to show you someone's hidden following list, be careful. TikTok doesn't describe any way to see one, and its own advice is not to link your account to apps you don't know.
