Can You See Who Shared Your TikTok?
Updated Oct 6, 2026

No, TikTok doesn't show you who shared your video. Creators see a share count in TikTok Studio, not names, and shares aren't one of the activity filters in your inbox. You can only tell who shared it when the share happens where you can see it, like a video sent to you in a message, a friend's repost, or a Duet or Stitch of your video.
Does TikTok Tell You Who Shared Your Video?
No. Nothing in TikTok's Help Center describes a list of who shared your post, or a notification when someone does.
Your inbox sorts activity into Likes and Favorites, Comments, Add Yours, and Mentions and tags. Shares aren't one of them.
What you do get is a number. TikTok Studio shows how each of your posts is doing, including its likes, shares and views.
To find it:
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then tap TikTok Studio.
- Go to Posts to see the likes, shares and views for each one. Tap Analytics there for more detail.
TikTok says Analytics isn't available to everyone yet, so you might not see that button.
The number isn't private, either. Paste any public video's link into the box below and you'll see its shares next to its plays and likes.
When Can You See Who Shared Your TikTok?
Some kinds of sharing do come with a name attached, because they happen somewhere you can see them.
- Someone sends it to you. A video shared with you in a direct message or a group chat arrives like any other message, from the person who sent it.
- Someone sends it to you outside TikTok. When a friend shares a post with you on another app and you tap the link, TikTok also sends it to your TikTok messages, as long as you allow messages from others.
- A friend reposts it. Reposts show up in For You feeds labeled with the reposter's profile photo and nickname, and friends who reposted a video show up as profile photos at the bottom of it.
- Someone makes a Duet or a Stitch with it. You can view the Duets and Stitches made with your posts in your privacy settings.
Reposts get their own guide: how to see who reposted your TikTok covers the Reposts tab, who can see it and how to check one account.
How to See the Duets and Stitches of Your Videos
Duets and Stitches are new posts built on yours, and TikTok lists them under Reuse of content history.
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Privacy, then Reuse of content, then Reuse of content history.
- Pick one of your videos to see what was made with it.
Be careful on that screen, though. It also lets you remove all the posts made with a video, and that deletes your original video too, permanently.
If you want to keep the video, TikTok suggests downloading a copy to your device first.
Can People See If You Share Their TikTok?
Not from a notification. Sharing isn't one of the activity types TikTok lists for the creator's inbox, so what they see is the share count, not your name.
It's different when the share is visible on its own. If you repost the video, send it to the creator, or make a Duet or Stitch with it, they can find that.
Reposts are the public one. On a public account, your reposts sit on your profile for anyone to see, and they show up in For You feeds with your photo and nickname.
A post you send in a private message stays in that chat. Only the people in the conversation see it.
Your view might show, though. With post view history, a creator with fewer than 5,000 followers can see some of the people who viewed a recent post, and a like or a comment always counts as a view.
So they might know you watched it even if they can't tell you shared it. There's more on how that works in our guide to TikTok profile and post views.
Is There a Trick to See Who Shared Your TikTok?
You'll find TikTok videos promising a secret trick that reveals the usernames of everyone who shared your post. TikTok's Help Center doesn't describe anything like it.
The names TikTok does show you come from the cases above: messages you were sent, reposts, and Duets or Stitches.
For a share to another app or a copied link, TikTok doesn't say it shows the creator anything at all.
Be wary of apps and sites that say they can find out for you. Anything that claims to see inside your account needs your TikTok login, and TikTok's own advice is not to link your account to apps you don't know.
