How to Block Someone on TikTok

Updated Oct 13, 2026

To block someone on TikTok, go to their profile in the app, tap the Share button at the top, then tap Block and Block again to confirm. TikTok doesn't notify them. After that, you can't see each other's posts, find each other in search or message each other, and any connection between you, like following each other, is removed.

How to Block Someone on TikTok

Blocking starts on the person's profile in the TikTok app:

  1. Go to the person's profile.
  2. Tap the Share button at the top.
  3. Tap Block at the bottom, then tap Block again to confirm.

You don't need to follow someone to block them. If you can open their profile, you can block them.

How to Block Multiple Accounts at Once

If lots of accounts are piling into the comments on one of your posts, you can block them in one go:

  1. Go to your post and tap the Comments button.
  2. Press and hold a comment, then select Manage multiple comments. You can also tap the Filters button at the top.
  3. Select the comments from the accounts you want to block, then tap More at the bottom.
  4. Tap Block accounts, then Block to confirm.

What Happens When You Block Someone on TikTok

A block works both ways. From then on:

  • You can't view each other's posts.
  • You can't find each other's profiles in search.
  • You can't send each other direct messages.
  • Any connection you had is gone. If you followed each other, you don't anymore.

You can still cross paths in a few places TikTok names: multi-host LIVE videos, Duets other people post, and group chats you're both in.

TikTok doesn't notify the person you blocked.

What Someone You Blocked Can Still See

A block works between two TikTok accounts. It keeps your posts away from the account you blocked.

A public account's posts are another matter. TikTok says anyone can see public content, people without an account included, so the person you blocked could still watch your public videos without logging in.

If that worries you, make your account private. Then only followers you approve can watch your videos.

To see what's out there, look yourself up in the box above. It shows your profile the way someone who isn't logged in sees it.

How to See Who You Blocked on TikTok

TikTok keeps a list of the accounts you've blocked:

  1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Privacy.
  4. Tap Blocked accounts. You may need to scroll down to find it.

Parents and guardians who use Family Pairing can also see every account their teen has blocked.

How to Unblock Someone on TikTok

Unblocking starts on their profile too:

  1. Go to the person's profile.
  2. Tap the Share button at the top.
  3. Tap Unblock at the bottom to confirm.

Blocking removed any connection you had, such as a follow. TikTok doesn't say unblocking brings it back.

How to Tell If Someone Blocked You on TikTok

TikTok doesn't tell you when someone blocks you. You notice the same things from the other side: you can't see their posts, find their profile in search or message them.

Those signs aren't proof on their own. A deactivated account vanishes too, since TikTok says no one can see a deactivated account's content or profile.

A private account is different. Its name and photo still show up in search, so a private account you can find hasn't blocked you.

Other Ways to Keep Someone at a Distance

Blocking isn't your only option. TikTok also suggests these:

  • Watch only your Friends tab and Following feed.
  • Change who can send you direct messages.
  • Turn off notifications to cut down on distractions.
  • Turn on Restricted Mode to limit content that may not be comfortable for everyone.

If someone breaks TikTok's Community Guidelines, TikTok asks you to report them too.

And if it's your follower list you want out of view, here's how to hide followers on TikTok.
